About

I love my hometown of Austin, Texas. Always have. And once I had a son, I grew to love it even more.

I try to spend every weekend doing something fun with my husband Jason, our son Sam, and all of our friends and family.  And it’s an easy thing to do, because there’s always something going on in this town of ours. From concerts to camping, parks to parties — you never have to look far to find a little family fun.

Lots of sites are dedicated to events and activities around town — sites like Do 512 and 365 Things To Do In Austin, Texas will tell you all about what’s going on, and I use them all the time.  But it’s hard to find sites for Austin parents just looking for a little family fun that might be off the beaten path.

Writing this blog is a natural fit for me — I’ve had an adults-only humor blog for three years, as well as a professional blog dedicated to my freelance writing and editing work. But there’s nothing I love writing about more than my beautiful son and our adventures together.

I want to use this site to chronicle some of our local discoveries, and to clue you in on upcoming events if I hear of them.  I hope it will become a useful tool for my friends who are parents.

It’s a terrific place to raise a family!  Now get out there and have some fun!

  1. Hey Beej, or Bejewell (which do you prefer?):

I just found this site and checked out your other blogs…and I gotta tell ya’ – I love all three!

In response to this one: I live in Buda, have two kids – Preston, 8 and Meredith, 5 – and we’re always up for something cool to do. I’ll be interested to get your take on Austin area adventures. And by the way, your son is precious.

You’re right. Austin is a great place to raise kids. And the Main Event is an over-priced cluster you-know-what. But somehow, my kids both loved the damn place, too. Oh, that’s right…because they have no idea how money actually works.

Anyway, wanted to say hello. Looking forward to more fun stuff from you.

What a great idea for a blog! I would follow… if I didn’t live in the middle of nowhere. But that gives me a good excuse to go on a lot of road trips (which I do). Austin looks like a lot of fun so far. :)

    I love this idea.

I’ve thought of this often, too: another blog just of what my family and I do.

    This is a great idea.

    Hey,

I can’t seem to find your email address, but I was wondering if you had any tips for finding nachos in Austin?
